🌸 Fateful Encounter 🌸

It was a fairly quiet day in Heaven. Some angels were out on the streets, doing errands, younger angels were going to school and others were on their way to work. Among all these angels was I. Hina Mochizuki, a 21-year-old angel born in Stellaria, the capital of Heaven. And like most of them, I was on my way to run a few errands as well and was now slowly making my way home. My violet hair was - as it often was - tied up in two low buns and I was wearing a white, off-the-shoulder dress embroidered with golden embellishments that accentuated my figure a little. The back of the dress was open so that my wings could easily fit through it. I also had golden marks on my back and arms, which shimmered in the sunlight. Not many had these kind of marks and if they did, there were usually very few. Especially as most of them covered them up.

Slowly, I strolled home through the lively streets of the city where I was most likely longingly awaited. A little lost in thoughts, I kept walking before my gaze lingered on a stranger, who was walking through the city, slightly annoyed, with documents in his arms. But as soon as I noticed him, I could watch a child bumping into the man, who then lost all the documents he was carrying on the ground. The child didn’t even bother to apologize and ran off. Nor did anyone else seem to want to help the man either. Because it was a demon. as his appearance quickly revealed. His skin was a warm gray, which seemed to get darker on his forearms and almost black towards his fingers. Two brown horns grew out of the side of his head - one on each side - and he had a tail that dragged over the asphalt. His long, red hair, which had a few darker strands, was tied into a plait and he was wearing a white suit together with white shoes. But although he was trying to match the color of the dress code, he stood out like sore thumb. As he sighed and began to collect the documents from the ground again, I had to chuckle a little and watched him for a moment, amused, before I approached him.

“Wait a minute,” I said to him with a smile when I got to him and without saying another word, I squatted down and started to help him collect everything before the wind would blow anything away. Because the way he was dressed and with this amount of documents, they were probably very important. And most certainly, no one else would help him. Angels avoided demons and most of them were arrogant and selfish beings anyway, who didn't care for demons or even “lower” being like humans for example. Even though this didn't apply to all angels. Sadly, however, to many. From the corner of my eye, I could see his puzzled look and how my behavior confused him. Amused, I grinned to myself while I kept helping him with collecting, before I handed him the documents. “Here you go.” I gave him another smile which apparently confused him even more. Because he looked at me and shook his head in disbelief, before he took everything. I myself looked confused for a moment, then chuckled a little. Cute, I thought briefly before standing up.

“Thanks,” he said, this time with a smile, as he stood up as well. I replied “You’re welcome” with a smile and quickly adjusted my dress when he spoke again. “Aren’t you afraid of me?,” he asked directly and I couldn’t blame him for asking. “Should I be?” I asked in return and continued: “I don’t know what I should be afraid of.” I smiled sweetly and my golden eyes met his poisonous green ones. It was true, he was a demon and that alone was a reason for many to avoid him. But he didn’t make the impression on me that I had to be afraid of him. No matter whether demon or another species. “Well, I’m a demon and usually angels avoid especially demons,” he replied. “I’m interested in why you don’t.” Apparently he had the same thought as me and was accordingly surprised and curious. I watched as he eyed me and it seemed that I caught his interest. Amused, I smirked a little before I started to answer him. “And that is reason enough to be afraid? I just don’t think that I have to be scared only because of someone's species. Or am I wrong?” I wasn’t scared at all, I was completely calm and you could probably see that in my face. While I answered him he started to smirk as well and looked at me. “Aren’t you scared that I could eat you?” Briefly I stifled a laugh. “Eat me, huh? No, I don’t,” I answered his question with a grin and crossed my arms.

Since he was still eyeing me, I grinned a little more and brought it up. “However, eyeing a woman like that despite only knowing her for a few moments seems less appropriate to me,” I said amused and it was obvious that I didn’t really mean it. Now I was the one eyeing him for a moment before I looked him in the eyes again. “I am-...,” I began and was about to introduce myself to him, but I was interrupted. “Hinaaaa!!” From a bit further away you could hear a girl shouting and running towards us, or rather towards me. She had pink hair and green eyes and seemed not older than four or five years. A bit surprised, I looked down to the child, who was no one else but my little sister. “Haru… What are you doing here?” “What’s taking you so long?” the girl pouted before she looked at the demon and realized his presence. Immediately, she hid behind me and held on to my dress a little. “...Who’s that?” she wanted to know. “I was almost home…,” I sighed in amusement before my eyes wandered towards the stranger again and I smiled slightly. “Well, to be honest… I don’t know.” Curiously I looked at the man in front of me and waited for an answer and an introduction from him after my sister unintentionally introduced myself already.

His eyes wandered to her for a moment before he looked at me again. “Call me… Val,” he replied and continued: “I won’t keep you long.” I nodded and as he wanted to go, Haruka, who still looked a bit unsure at the demon, pulled on my dress. It seemed she wanted to go as well. “Maybe… we will see each other again… Val,” I said and gave the demon a smile before I took the hand of my sister. “Who knows, maybe we do, Hina,” he replied to me. “Do you have to go home…?” Haruka now asked him but continued to stay behind me. He looked down at her and then pointed at the documents in his arm. “I still need to get some work done.” As expected, he still had to get some things done and the documents were important. This reply seemed to satisfy her, because she didn’t ask any further and just looked at the pile of paper for a moment.

Eventually, we said goodbye and our ways parted. At least for now. What an interesting man, I thought to myself and smiled a little. For a moment I turned around again, where I could see him in the distance until he disappeared in the crowd. “Nuuya*¹? Hina Onee-chan!” it came from my sister, as I I had slowed down, which is why she pulled on my hand. Her gaze followed mine and although the man wasn't to be seen anymore, she seemed to know where I was looking. “Will you meet again?” she asked without having any hidden thoughts. After all, she was only a child. Amused, I laughed a little and looked at her. Then I smiled while we walked on together. “I don’t know. Maybe…,” I replied and wondered if we would really see each other again. Somehow… I was secretly hoping we would, even though we barely knew each other. But it would be a lie to say that he didn’t catch my interest. Who knows, maybe we would cross paths again one day. And with this thought, I headed back home with Haruka, hoping to meet this mysterious, handsome man again.
